How Did Markler Come to Be?
The Markler Real Estate Management System as it is today was inspired by the early development of a contact and listing management tool. This custom tool had been created for a highly awarded top performing team real estate in Gatlinburg Tennessee.

In 2003 the broker of the office in which this team opperated approached Terrance Luckett, the Founder of Markler, after seeing this basic tool. He wanted to have a system developed that would address a frustrating problem plaguing his business flow; Incompatible software systems such as, a leads system that did not talk to a contact manager; a contact manager that did not track referrals through closing; a transaction manager that did not track agent lead acquisition method.

The broker had been using Excel spreadsheets to manage all the data which due to multiple user input was prone to error. After one and a half years of development, Markler 2 was deployed, the first draft being the unnamed team system.

Almost immediately after implementing this system, Luckett realized that he had developed something that every real estate professional interested in growth and efficiency needed and wanted. Less than a year later an updated version that was portable & configurable was released and Markler for the Real Estate Industry was born.


Where Does the Name "Markler" Come From?
We get asked this question all the time. Rightfully so, it's a great name. The name Markler is derived from the German word "makler", pronounced mahk·lêr, meaning broker or business intermediator. Terrance Luckett (Markler Founder/CEO), a native born German, found himself using the word makler frequently when explaining to relatives what it was he was developing. The word eventually stuck and with a small spelling adjustment for better English pronunciation the company and system were named Markler.
